THEATER FOR THE NEW CITY seeks Assistant Director for its Summer Street Theater, a Socially Conscious Operetta for the Street, “SANITATION, or, OFF THE GRID.” Some Pay. This is a full-scale musical production with 30 actors and a 5-piece band which will tour all five boroughs of New York City in August and September.

Applicants must know Microsoft Word. Must have experience in Assistant Directing, Directing or Stage Management. Music background is also helpful. A writing background is preferable. Assistant Directors must be patient, responsible and intelligent. Strong observational skills and ability to take notes are a plus. Assistant Directors will work very closely with the Director and Musical Director.

This is a great chance to be a part of an Award-Winning Company and become involved with a Theater that produces over 30 new plays per year.

Evening and Weekend hours are a Must.

Schedule: Workshops Monday, June 17 through Friday June 28, 2013, 6-10PM Weeknights, 1-6PM Weekends.
Pay $50/week ($100 total).

Rehearsals July 16th through August 2nd, 2013
10, 6-10PM Weeknights, 1-6PM Weekends (rehearsals will run late as opening approaches, likely until 11pm during the first week).
Pay $50/week

Performances are on Weekends Only, 2pm, August 3rd through September 15th, except for 6:30pm performance Friday, August 17th and 7pm performance Saturday, September 14th. Pay $25/show. 13 Performances. No Performances Labor Day Weekend (September 1-2). Includes Friday Night Warmups each weekend before performances. (Thurs warmup 8/15).

Assistant Directors may also assist with the Audition process in mid-May and early June.
