Prop Masters (Multiple Positions Available) – Signature Theatre

Signature Theatre, one of New York’s leading off-Broadway theatres, is seeking PROP MASTERS to support Signature’s upcoming 2013-2014 Season, with work beginning in June 2013. Founded in 1991, Signature Theatre Company exists to honor and celebrate the playwright, producing seven to nine productions annually; and, in 2005 Signature began its groundbreaking Signature Ticket Initiative, providing affordable tickets to all of its productions. Signature recently opened the Pershing Square Signature Center, the Frank Gehry-designed 75,000 square foot Center featuring three theatres, two rehearsal studios, a central, public lobby with a café and bookstore, as well as administrative offices.

Prop Masters report to their designated Production Manager (varies by production).

Responsibilities include:

• Attending all production meetings
• Working closely with the production’s Scenic Designer to determine props and set dressing
• Procuring props and set dressing, as discussed, and within the assigned budget
• Tracking expenses, compiling receipts, and submitting all such materials to the Production Manager, in a timely fashion
• Striking all props and set dressing at the end of each production, ensuring their proper return to storage, rental companies, etc.

Prop Master candidates must be efficient, creative, self-motivated, and an enthusiastic leader and team player. Candidates must possess excellent communication and organizational skills.

A well-rounded props and carpentry background is preferred.
