To tell you a little bit about Camp Canadensis…
We are a seven week, co-ed, residential camp located in the Pocono Mountains of Northeast Pennsylvania (about 90 miles from New York City and 90 miles from Philadelphia). This summer, we will have over 400 campers, ages 7-16. Consequently, we hire over 200 people from all over the world to work as part of our staff.
Currently, we are looking for an experienced, enthusiastic and qualified individual to be our Theater Director. We offer a great salary, travel allowance, room and board and laundry service as part of the compensation package. Plus, it’s a whole lotta fun and this would no doubt be a summer position unlike any other!
Details of the Theater Director position would include:
(1) Producing and directing two of camp’s musicals (to be determined by the Camp Director and Theater Director). Cast and crew ranges between 40-75 campers per show. Shows typically run one hour in length. The director is responsible for all casting, rehearsal schedules (working with or Programming Department) and the overall vision for the shows.
(2) Managing and supervising a Theater Department of three to four staff (typically college students).
(3) Overseeing a budget for the productions.
Applicants should have the following experience / qualifications: (1) Has directed productions of similar size and scale before. (2) Has managed a team of staff. (3) Has been responsible for keeping a budget. (4) A love for working with kids!
