The Company Manager serves as local contact for cast and design teams for each Huntington Theatre Company production during their residence in Boston and in the course of their job will execute the following:

• Supervise assistant company manager in all aspects of his/her duties

• Make travel arrangements for artists and staff.

• Arrange housing for visiting artists including specific artist requests prior to their arrival in Boston.

• Greet guest artists when they arrive in Boston.

• Maintain 11 permanent apartments and rental apartments used as artist housing by arranging cleaning and ensuring all linens, appliances, etc. are well maintained.

• Maintain company management seasonal budget.

• Keep guest artists satisfied in order to ensure high quality of performance.

• Negotiate with vendors including cleaning services, travel agents, caterers, bartenders, etc.

• Coordinate the activities of the Company Management department with other departments within the organization.

• Coordinate actor’s needs with Stage Management.

• Coordinate first rehearsal, opening and closing night functions.

• Covering rehearsals and show curtains to attend to any specific artist needs.

QUALIFICATIONS: Previous Company Management in a professional theater is a must for this position. This position requires a B.A./B.S. or equivalent. Excellent written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills as well as demonstrated organizational abilities required. Successful candidates will be adept at managing multiple tasks simultaneously and will be capable of responding quickly and appropriately to the often personal needs of guest artists. Events Management experience is a plus. Proficiency with Word and Excel is a must as well as experience with a calendar program (i.e. MS Outlook). Proficiency with Access and Tessitura is helpful but not required. A successful candidate will possess knowledge of Actor’s Equity Association (AEA). Knowledge of United Scenic Artists (USA) and Society of Stage Directors and Choreographers (SSDC) rules and policies is a plus. Some physical labor is required. This position requires nights and weekend shifts.
