GEORGE STREET PLAYHOUSE, New Brunswick, NJ (45 minutes from NYC), seeks 2M/2F actors, all ethnicities for its Non-Equity regional Educational Touring Company. Contract from August 12, 2013 – May 23, 2014, with possible 2 week extension.

Work is demanding and requires great dedication - must have interest and passion for working with children. Touring Theatre performs 3 plays and one musical in repertory which travel to area schools, colleges, and community groups within the tri-state area. Actors must play teen to early twenties, varying roles. BA or BFA in Theatre Arts / Acting accepted. Musical experience required. Must be a strong singer. EMC points for understudying main stage (LORT C) if appropriate. Must be willing to relocate to Central New Jersey.

I. Acting
• Perform in GSP’s Touring Theatre productions, which travel to area schools, colleges, and community groups within the tri-state area.

• Actors must play teen to early twenties, varying roles.

• The company performs 3 - 4 shows in repertory.

• Opportunities to understudy in selected Main Stage shows if appropriate roles are available.

II. Workshops
• Conduct post-play discussions after each performance.
• Conduct workshops in area schools as part of GSP’s Education and Outreach program.

III. Production Support
• Responsible for daily operation of touring productions: driving tour van, loading and unloading van, proper storage of all sets, costumes and props, and set-up and strike for all rehearsals and performances.
• Must be able to lift 40lbs for 100 ft.

IV. Dates
Terms of contract: Company is in residence August 12, 2013 – May 23, 2014, with possible 2 week extension.

Rehearsals: Full-time, 6 days per week rehearsal/ 5- 6 days per week performing. Actors may not hold second jobs during the rehearsal period.

V. Housing
House is not provided, however; actors must reside in Central New Jersey for the term of employment. Local New Jersey residents may commute if they have reliable and independent transportation.
