Theatre in Exile is a new Brooklyn based committed to creating, adapting and staging works from a hyper-immediate and globalist perspective. In exile from our homes or our native selves, we seek to create work that unearths, revives and re-contextualizes the human experience for the 21st Century stage.

We are seeking FOUR actors for our inaugural production, "The Big Mzungu of Kilwa Kivinje".
The play is set between NY and Kilwa Kivinje, a small town in Tanzania. "The Big Mzungu" tells the story of a cosmopolitan New Yorker bringing the body of his wife back to her homeland to be buried. A journey of longing, loss, with an unusual lens on the politics of death.
Cast Breakdown:
2 African actors, 1M & 1F: The Toy-Maker, The Mother
1 actor, mixed-ethnicity, M or F: The Narrator
1 caucasian male actor: The Big Mzungu

Note:
We will be embarking on a development period of several months with performances in late summer or early fall.
Actors embarking on the project should have a multi-disciplinary skill set and experience with experimental theatre.
Actors seeking involvement in a new repertory company are encouraged to apply.
Bi-lingual actors are encouraged to apply.

All actors auditioning should be free from 12pm-7pm on May 13.
This will be a group audition: we will run through exercises, dig through the script and get on our feet, so wear ATHLETIC CLOTHING.
Applicants arriving in shirt & tie, jeans, dresses, dress shoes, etc. will be dismissed immediately.
