DESCRIPTION

The Women in the Arts & Media Coalition (www.womenartsmediacoalition.org) exists to focus the power of our member organizations together and to use that combined strength to address issues of concern to women in the arts, media, and new media. We are committed to being the link between our member organizations as we collaborate to impact the various topics that affect women in our industry through advocacy, networking, and events. The Coalition currently has 7 full member organizations and 8 affiliate member organizations, with a combined membership of over 80,000, and we are constantly adding new member organizations and forging alliances. As such, we are currently seeking one or two part-time interns for office and event support.

No pay, but travel stipend, complimentary tickets to events and performances, and mentoring from top professionals in the arts, entertainment, and media industries. Academic credit and references available, as you will be reporting directly to the Co-Presidents, as well as working with our Submission Newsletter Coordinator and Social Media Coordinator.

Skills required: excellent written and verbal communication skills; proficiency with the Microsoft Office Suite; experience with cloud computing (Dropbox, GoogleDocs); experience with multiple social media platforms (facebook, Twitter, Pinterest, tumblr, etc.); ability to pick up new technologies and
new online platforms; ability to multitask; ability to deal with pressure; ability to solve problems with minimal oversight (much of the online work can be done independently). Job duties include, but are not limited to, the following: assisting at some Coalition Board Meetings and Committee Meetings; providing event support for programming sponsored or co-sponsored by the Coalition; assisting with research of
Submission & Funding Newsletters; updating our online presence, including website, Women in the Arts & Media Communal Calendar, and all social media platforms; other administrative supporting tasks that may arise.
