Mark DeGarmo & Dancers/Dynamic Forms Inc. is a not-for-profit tax-exempt 501(c)(3) organization founded in 1982 and committed to education and the arts, intercultural inquiry, and creativity, with the purpose of enlivening bodies, shifting perspectives, changing lives. Our mission is to educate under-served New York City communities, especially children, about the roles of dance and the arts in society; promoting intercultural inquiry and communication; and creating, performing, and disseminating original dances and artistic and scholarly work. MDDF has worked in partnership programs with 25 NYC schools since 1991, including public school students and communities under-served in the arts, dance and aesthetic education. Since inception, MDDF has produced over 100 dances and 25 international tours involving cultural diplomacy and exchange in 12 countries across Latin America and Europe.

Our principal activities include multiyear arts-in-education partnerships, intercultural exchange, and development of arts-based research and performance. We currently serve 1,500 students and classroom teachers in five schools on the Lower East Side and Far Rockaway during the school day and after school, and over 13,000 individuals annually.

Under the direction of the Founder and Executive Director, MDDF Teaching Artists in Dance & Creativity are an integral member of the MDDF team. Teaching Artists perform a variety of activities including professional training and learning; planning, writing, documenting, and assessing programs of interdisciplinary dance-based study in PreK-5 public schools; and co-teaching and collaboratively assessing MDDF's programs of study with classroom teachers and MDDF staff members. Ambassadors of MDDF's unique and successful approaches to dance education, MDDF Teaching Artists in Dance & Creativity are mature professionals with: passion for new learning and opportunities for growth; demonstrated commitment to the communities and learners we serve; and breadth and depth of expertise in dance and dance education.

Extensive research, including recent studies by the Arts Education Partnership, has documented the impact of arts education as a tool for transformation. Mark DeGarmo & Dancers/Dynamic Forms Inc. (MDDF) provides a comprehensive arts experience to students from economically disadvantaged circumstances producing both positive academic and social results. MDDF's experienced dance teaching artists primarily work in PreK-5 school (during & after school) programs with new community arts programs in development for toddlers, youth, adults, and seniors.

Duties Include
1. Designing and organizing age-appropriate skills-based & interdisciplinary programs of study (10-48 lessons) grounded in dance arts

This is a 1- to 3-day per week artistic staff (W-2) position with payroll benefits to begin immediately. Compensation is competitive with NYC arts education organizations. This is a growth position with the potential to grow within the organization and to add assignments within three to six months.
