The Managing Director is responsible for general operations of the theater; funding and development functions including donor cultivation, grant writing and sponsorship; development and execution of marketing plan for the theater and its programming; and overall management of the financial functions including budgeting, cash management, payroll and contracts.

Managing Director duties:
• Hires, supervises and evaluates administrative staff
• Oversees Box office, ticketing and front of house activities as well as theater facility operations
• Works closely with the Artistic Director in coordinating annual calendar of activities to maximize efficiency of operations
• With Artistic Director, negotiates and executes appropriate contracts to engage all production personnel including authors, actors, directors and designers
• Develops annual budget and collaborates with Artistic Director to develop production budgets
• Responsible for all required regulatory and tax filings for the theater
• Oversees day-to-day management of the theater’s administrative and production finances while maintaining strict financial discipline
• Oversees all lease negotiations affecting TWN
• With Artistic Director, develops and oversees marketing including media relations, promotional and advertising materials, website and signage, “Playbill” ad sales and layout
• Cultivates individual donors as well as corporate, foundation and government funders including donor prospect research, writing grant proposals and sponsorship solicitation
• Responsible for fundraising activities including events, annual appeals and appeals for other specific needs
• Reports to the Board of Directors on a regular basis to give updates and involves Board in development activities in a productive manner
• Maintains written procedures, timelines and databases as appropriate.
• Acts as a spokesperson for the organization and attends meetings related to theater management and on-going development functions
• Responsible for the theater’s written communications, including donor acknowledgement and on-going correspondence related to theater management and development functions
