Actor Boot Camp is a new 10 week (21 class hours a week) program this fall created by Sedgwick Russell Acting Studio for people who need the tools to achieve their goal of pursuing a career as a professional actor. The curriculum includes intensive classes in acting, voice and movement, improv, audition technique and the business of acting.
At the end of the ten week program, students will be armed with an effective photo and resume, strong script analysis and cold reading skills, three monologues chosen to highlight their personality and type, a clear understanding of the business of acting, several industry contacts and a business plan - all tools needed to begin pursuing a successful career as a working actor in New York City.
In the final week of the session, students will be able to showcase their skills in a presentation for several industry professionals - two prominent casting directors and two agents.
Instructors include faculty members from New York University, Circle in the Square, Juilliard and Columbia as well as industry professionals - directors, choreographers, actors, casting directors, agents and tv, film and stage producers.
The program is also open to students of all ages (18+) - Sedgwick Russell has a strong record of working with people over 50 who have always wanted to pursue the dream of performing professionally.
The program is small - 10-15 students. Classes run September 29 -December 12.
