Blue Man Productions, best known for our theatrical production Blue Man Group, is looking for interns for the fall. This is a great opportunity to work alongside designers, directors and the creative team and gain hands-on experience with the inner workings of a fast-paced entertainment organization.

Interns will receive a small stipend and a monthly MetroCard for each month of the internship. All internships require a commitment of 20 hours per week, between the hours of 10am and 7pm, Monday through Friday.

We have internship opportunities in the following departments:


The Theatrical Productions internship will provide the selected candidate the opportunity to participate in the daily operations of the Blue Man Group General Management team. The intern will gain an education on best business practices for supporting a company of artists and insight into the unique work culture and structure of Blue Man Group. Key responsibilities include:

•Tracking and filing various daily and weekly reports, including performance, box office, and merchandise reports
•Processing internal and external ticket requests
•Arranging travel, housing, and ground transportation
•Managing calendars
•Organization and archiving of General Management documents

To be considered, candidates must be reliable, highly organized and detail-oriented, with a flexible work style and sense of humor. Candidates should be able to work both in teams and independently. Proficiency with MS Office required.


The Creative Development/Stage Management intern will work alongside the key creative development team that writes and develops new stage material for the Blue Man Group shows around the world. S/he will be responsible for:

•Taking notes
•Doing research
•Distributing information
•Attending writing sessions

The ideal candidate will be a smart, highly motivated self-starter with stage and project management experience.


The Sales/Marketing intern will be exposed to database marketing, project management, and teamwork by working with our six city productions. Some of the learning opportunities we will provide include:

•Working with all levels of the marketing team on execution of national and local press, marketing, & promotional initiatives
•Conducting research on potential partnerships and new trade opportunities for our production at the Astor Place Theatre, in conjunction with local marketing manager
•Participating in strategic & tactical planning & execution of nationwide sales programs
•Working with the Marketing team to assist with administrative tasks for meetings and presentations as needed
•Assisting with archival of press, social media and miscellaneous marketing materials
•Other duties as assigned

Candidates with an interest and/or experience in Arts and Entertainment Marketing will be given priority. Basic Microsoft Office knowledge is required for this role (especially Outlook, Word, and Excel). An ideal candidate will be able to multi-task and collaborate with others easily. This internship is available for college credit.


The Video intern will assist the Video department with all phases of video production, including:

•Shooting, editing and post-production
•Participating in department meetings
•Attending video shoots
•Other tasks as assigned.

The ideal candidate must have a working knowledge of Final Cut Pro, After Effects, and Photoshop. The candidate should be familiar and comfortable operating cameras (DV, HDV and HD formats), as well as basic lighting and sound equipment.


The Studio intern will observe and assist the studio staff in the efficient operation of the studio including:

•Setting up and breaking down sessions
•Serving as runner
•Assisting the studio technician with editing and post-production tasks
•Other duties as assigned

The intern will also have the opportunity to work as assistant engineer at our recording facility, and on occasional offsite projects. Candidates must have a basic familiarity with recording studio terminology and practices. Knowledge of OSX, Pro Tools strongly preferred.
