About Our Internship Program
MCC Theater interns gain a broad perspective on the day-to-day work environment of a non-profit Off-Broadway theater company, as well as a detailed understanding of how their specific department operates. We work with our interns to develop their individual strengths and to give them interesting work that will help them grow. MCC Theater internships are unpaid, but alternative benefits include:
• Two complimentary tickets to each MCC production at the Lucille Lortel Theater, plus access to first preview, staff rate tickets and standby seating.
• Access to creative team meet & greets, first preview performance and party, and volunteer opportunities at the Miscast gala
• An open invitation to all MCC Theater Youth Company master classes with actors, directors and designers
• Opportunities to attend all open readings for plays under consideration at MCC Theater
• Regular sit downs with education staff.
• Quarterly lunches with MCC Theater staff members and artists Part-time and full-time internships are available to college students and recent college graduates.
Development interns work closely with the Director of Development and Development Associate on a variety of projects that support MCC Theater's fundraising efforts. Intern will assist with: database management; correspondence; planning and executing donor cultivation and funding events; research; planning and tasks associated with annual gala fundraiser, Miscast; maintenance of organizational systems.
Education & Outreach
interns assist the Director of Education in coordinating various MCC arts in education programs, namely the MCC Theater Youth Company. This is a terrific opportunity to obtain hands-on experience working in a professional theater company's education department. Interns will spend time in the office performing various administrative tasks, in the classroom as an assistant, and in production for our final Youth Company performances. Additionally, education interns will act as a liaison between all MCC interns and the MCC staff, setting up intern lunches and coordinating one-on-one check-ins with the Director of Education. Experience working with teenagers or arts education is a plus. Ideally looking for a candidate that is available for the entire season to be in the classroom Tuesday - Thursday in the afternoon plus office hours (which can be flexible).
Literary interns act as readers for the MCC Literary Department. Interns are responsible for reading and writing evaluations of scripts submitted to MCC Theater for consideration for production. Additionally, literary interns are expected to assist in coordination and execution of annual PlayLab Reading series, including program printing, tracking attendance, assisting in reception set-up, participating in front of house and receptions. Literary interns spend 8 - 12 hours a week in the MCC offices. The literary internship requires previous experience.
The Marketing intern assists the marketing department in various office duties such as managing audience communications/mailings, conducting research, facilitating audience surveys, maintaining department archives and databases, planning and implementing viral and grassroots marketing efforts. Excel and Social Media experience a must. Photoshop, Dreamweaver a plus.
