The Public Theater hosted their annual gala June 9 at the Delacorte Theater in Central Park, home to the popular Shakespeare in the Park productions each summer. The event, which included a special performance of The Tempest as well as dinner, celebrates the Public's artistic director of ten years, Oskar Eustis and wife Laurie Eustis.

The 53rd season of Shakespeare in the Park kicks off May 27 with The Tempest, starring Academy Award nominee Sam Waterston ("The Newsroom," King Lear, Hamlet). The production marks Waterston's 13th Shakespearean role at the Public Theater.

Inside the Drama Desk Awards-From Red Carpet to the Winners!

The 60th Annual Drama Desk Awards, hosted by Tony winner Laura Benanti, were presented May 31 at The Town Hall in New York City. Lin-Manuel Miranda's Broadway-bound musical Hamilton, which premiered Off-Broadway at the Public Theater, won seven awards — the most of any production of the season – including Outstanding Musical.

Cherry Jones, Brooke Shields and More Celebrate Public Theater Opening Nights The Public Theater celebrated two opening nights this week: The Mobile Shakespeare Unit’s Macbeth opened on May 20, and Elevator Repair Service’s The Sound and the Fury opened on May 21.

The Public held an celebration on April 24.
