Broadway Remembers 9/11: Ten Years After, Part Two
On the anniversary of the Sept. 11, 2001, terrorist attacks on the United States, Playbill asked members of the Broadway community to reflect on the uncertain time, the shared hope and the role that theatre played following the destruction of the twin towers of New York City's World Trade Center. In Part Two of two, former Broadway League president Jed Bernstein, along with performers Karen Mason, Nancy Opel and Brad Oscar, who were working on Broadway at the time, talk about the mayor's request to relight Broadway theatres two days after 9/11, and how artists and audiences responded to performances in the wake of the national tragedy.
