Michael John LaChiusa's Queen of the Mist Takes Us Over the Falls
On Oct. 24, 1901, 63-year-old daredevil Annie Edson Taylor became the
first person to go over Niagara Falls in a barrel and live to tell
about it.
Five-time Tony Award-nominated composer-lyricist-librettist Michael John
LaChiusa drew on this sensational true story for his latest musical
Queen
of the Mist, presented by Off-Broadway's Transport Group. Directed
by
Jack Cummings III and starring Tony nominee Mary Testa (Xanadu,
42nd Street) as Taylor, the show will run Oct. 18-Nov. 20 at
the Gym at Judson Memorial Church in Greenwich Village.
