Samuel L. Jackson, Angela Bassett and the Opening Night High of The Mountaintop

Playwright Katori Hall, director Kenny Leon and composer Branford Marsalis join stars Samuel L. Jackson and Angela Bassett in celebrating the Broadway opening of The Mountaintop, Hall's Olivier Award-winning fictionalized account of civil rights leader Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.'s final night on earth. The stars, playwright and director recall their southern roots and discuss the potential for controversy — the play removes the ionic status of the revered Dr. King and paints a humanized portrait while pairing him with an alluring foil and confidant.
