Chinglish, a new comedy about the misadventures of miscommunication
which had its world premiere at Chicago's Goodman Theatre, makes its way to
Broadway's Longacre Theatre. Gary Wilmes makes his Broadway debut as Daniel
Cavanaugh, an Ohio businessman sent overseas to direct the operations of a
sign company. Chicago company member Jennifer Lim returns as Xi Yan, a
captivating Chinese government official and Stephen Pucci reprises his role
as Peter Timms, an Australian interpreter. Written by Tony Award winner
David Henry Hwang (M. Butterfly), the show is performed in English
and Mandarin with English surtitles projected. Obie Award winner Leigh
Silverman (From Up Here, Well) directs.
