Highlights From Broadway's The Road to Mecca

The Roundabout Theatre Company brings The Road to Mecca, Athol Fugard's 1988 play based on a true story, to Broadway for the first time. Set in South Africa's Karoo region, Mecca follows the story of the aged Miss Helen (Rosemary Harris) who appears to no longer be able to take care of herself or her home — which over the years she has transformed into an intricate work of outsider art. Pastor Marius Byleveld (Jim Dale) is determined to place her in an old age home, while her younger friend Elsa (Carla Gugino) is determined to make sure she retains her freedom. Gordon Edelstein (The Homecoming) directs. For more on the show, click here.
