Carrie Creative Team Says Musical Trades Horror for High School Reality
In between rehearsals for the new Off-Broadway revisal of the musical
Carrie, stars Molly Ranson and Marin Mazzie — playing the
bullied and supernaturally gifted Carrie White and her
ultra-religious mother Margaret, respectively — join director Stafford
Arima to talk about the overhaul of the onetime flop musical inspired
by the novel by horror icon Stephen King. With new and revised songs
by original songwriters Dean Pitchford and Michael Gore, and a fresh approach to Lawrence
D. Cohen's book, the show has a sharpened focus on the reality of the
dark dynamics of high school life. For more on the MCC Theater
