2012 Tony Awards Preview: Best Musical

Leap of Faith's composer Alan Menken and lyricist Glenn Slater go gospel in this adaptation of the 1992 film about a con-artist preacher.

Newsies transplants the cult-classic movie about a New York City newsboy strike — featuring a score by Alan Menken and Jack Feldman — to the stage.

Nice Work If You Can Get It by librettist Joe DiPietro uses the classic songs of George and Ira Gershwin as the basis for a romantic, screwball comedy about a bootlegger who falls for a tipsy playboy.

Once uses the songs of Glen Hansard and Markéta Irglová, stars and songwriters of the earlier film, in the Dublin-set love story of two musicians in need.
