The Gypsy Project: Chita Rivera

Chita Rivera, a Gypsy Robe recipient who is best known as "Queen of the Gypsies," is a Tony Award winner for her performances in The Rink and Kiss of the Spider Woman. She has been nominated for her performances in Bye Bye Birdie, Chicago, Bring Back Birdie, Merlin, Jerry's Girls, Nine and Chita Rivera: The Dancer's Life. She has also been seen on Broadway in Can-Can, Seventh Heaven, Mr. Wonderful, Shinbone Alley and West Side Story, among others. Rivera is also a Presidential Medal of Freedom recipient and the first Hispanic woman to receive a Kennedy Center Honors Award.
