Highlights From The Nutty Professor, With Music by Marvin Hamlisch, in Nashville

Jerry Lewis directs the Broadway-aimed world premiere of The Nutty Professor, a new musical based on his film comedy, now to Aug. 19 at the Tennessee Performing Arts Center in Nashville, TN. Michael Andrew stars as Julius Kelp, the social-misfit egghead who concocts a potion that transforms him into crooner Buddy Love. With book and lyrics by Tony winner Rupert Holmes and music by the late Tony winner Marvin Hamlisch, who died unexpectedly on Aug. 6, the show revels in a jazzy pre-Beatles sound. Mark Jacoby (a Tony nominee for Hal Prince's Show Boat) and Marissa McGowan (Bonnie & Clyde, A Little Night Music) also star.
