PLAYBILL EXCLUSIVE: Old School Meets New School With Cotton Club Parade Dancers

Dancers Andrew "Dr. Ew" Carter, Jeremiah "Supaman" Haynes and Alexandria "Brinae Ali" Bradley met with Playbill to chat about (and demonstrate) the fusion of old and new dance styles that are employed in the New York City Center Encores! production of Cotton Club Parade, playing to Nov. 18. The dancers demonstrate jazz, hip hop, and popping techniques that they blend effortlessly with traditional tap, swing and ballroom to give the revue — based on the shows of the famous Harlem nightspot of the 1920s and 30s — a modern twist. For more on the production, click here. Read conceiver Jack Viertel's essay about the show here.
