A New Generation for Rent, Now Off-Broadway

Director Michael Greif and the cast of the new Off-Broadway production of Rent took a break from rehearsals Aug. 1 to chat about their approach to Jonathan Larson's 1996 rock musical about friends, artists and lovers expressing themselves in the age of AIDS. They talk about their first encounters with the groundbreaking musical, and what the Pulitzer Prize-winning show means to them. The newly-conceived incarnation opens Aug. 11 at New World Stages.
