Bikeman: A 9/11 Play Views a Dark Day Through a Hopeful Lens

"CBS Evening News" producer Tom Flynn was outside his Greenwich Village home on the morning of 9/11/01 when he witnessed a plane traveling on a fatal path toward the World Trade Center. Driven by journalistic instinct, he jumped on his bicycle and sped downtown to report on the story. Bikeman: A 9/11 Play is the stage adaptation of Flynn's epic poem detailing the events of that day through his eyes as a journalist and participant. Here, performer Robert Cuccioli and director Michael Bush sat down with Playbill to talk about the power of the show and the desire of audiences to view the 9/11 experience through an artistic lens. Performances run through March 30 at the BMCC Tribeca Performing Arts Center. Read the Playbill story.
