EXCLUSIVE: Justin Guarini Goes Backstage at Romeo and Juliet
Orlando Bloom and Condola Rashad play the star-crossed lovers in the Broadway revival of Romeo and Juliet, which takes a new perspective on Shakespeare's play by incorporating elements of racial intolerance. Taking a break from his usual role as the show's Paris, Justin Guarini played tour guide and went behind the scenes of the production at the Richard Rodgers Theatre. Guarini took a peek at cast warm-ups, bird rehearsal, fight call and the stage crew as they tested the show's moving "fire bars" which shoot flames high into the air during the performance. See all of the show's details in the Playbill Vault.
Holed up in a seedy motel on the edge of the Mojave Desert, two former lovers unpack the deep secrets and dark desires of their tangled relationship, passionately tearing each other apart. Led by director Daniel Aukin (Back Back Back at MTC, 4,000 Miles), Tony winner Nina Arianda (Venus in Fur at MTC, Born Yesterday) and Sam Rockwell (A Behanding in Spokane, The Way Way Back) bring an explosive intensity to Sam Shepard’s (Buried Child, True West) landmark myth of the new Wild West.
