Sophie Treadwell's Machinal tracks the life of a stenographer (Rebecca Hall) who is trapped in a loveless marriage to her boss (Michael Cumpsty). After finding solace in the arms of a lover (Morgan Spector), she cannot bear to return to her normal life and becomes willing to take extreme steps to make sure that she doesn't have to.
