Highlights From Murder for Two at New World Stages
Murder for Two is a zany blend of classic musical comedy and madcap mystery as Officer Moscowicz attempts to discover who shot the great American novelist Arthur Whitney in the forehead at his surprise birthday party. Among the many suspects are bombastic ballerinas, bickering old couples, and members of a boys choir — all of whom have a dirty little secret. Jeff Blumenkrantz and Brett Ryback star. Scott Schwartz directs the production, which plays New World Stages Stage 5. Read about the upcoming release of the show's cast recording.
Holed up in a seedy motel on the edge of the Mojave Desert, two former lovers unpack the deep secrets and dark desires of their tangled relationship, passionately tearing each other apart. Led by director Daniel Aukin (Back Back Back at MTC, 4,000 Miles), Tony winner Nina Arianda (Venus in Fur at MTC, Born Yesterday) and Sam Rockwell (A Behanding in Spokane, The Way Way Back) bring an explosive intensity to Sam Shepard’s (Buried Child, True West) landmark myth of the new Wild West.
