Highlights From the West End Revival of Merrily We Roll Along
Stephen Sondheim himself described the recent critically acclaimed West End revival of Merrily We Roll Along (directed by Olivier Award winner Maria Friedman) as "the best I've seen." The 1981 musical, with book by George Furth and score by Sondheim, travels backwards in time to navigate the bumpy history of three friends who start their careers in show business together.
Recorded in High Definition from multiple camera angles, the production will be screened in cinemas across the U.S. Oct. 23 by CinemaLive and Digital Theatre.
The 7 PM screening also includes backstage interviews with the cast. Visit Fathomevents.com for ticket information.
Holed up in a seedy motel on the edge of the Mojave Desert, two former lovers unpack the deep secrets and dark desires of their tangled relationship, passionately tearing each other apart. Led by director Daniel Aukin (Back Back Back at MTC, 4,000 Miles), Tony winner Nina Arianda (Venus in Fur at MTC, Born Yesterday) and Sam Rockwell (A Behanding in Spokane, The Way Way Back) bring an explosive intensity to Sam Shepard’s (Buried Child, True West) landmark myth of the new Wild West.
