Natasha, Pierre & The Great Comet of 1812's Brittain Ashford Shows off Kazino — and Her Vocal Chops
Adapted from a selection of Tolstoy's epic "War and Peace," Dave Malloy's electro-pop opera Natasha, Pierre & The Great Comet of 1812takes shape in Kazino, a performance space that is more supper club than theatrical venue. Eschewing the idea of theatre-in-the-round for "theatre everywhere," the actors use every available part of the house. Here, cast member Brittain Ashford gives a tour of the unusual space and performs "Sonya Alone" along with musical director Or Matias on piano. The original cast recording of Natasha, Pierre & The Great Comet of 1812 is now available on Sh-K-Boom & Ghostlight Records. Performances run through Jan. 19, 2014.
Featuring the Broadway classics “To Life (L’Chaim!),” “If I Were A Rich Man,” “Sunrise Sunset,” “Matchmaker, Matchmaker,” and “Tradition,” Fiddler on the Roof will introduce a new generation to this uplifting celebration that raises its cup to joy! To love! To life!
