Natasha, Pierre & The Great Comet of 1812's Brittain Ashford Shows off Kazino — and Her Vocal Chops

Adapted from a selection of Tolstoy's epic "War and Peace," Dave Malloy's electro-pop opera Natasha, Pierre & The Great Comet of 1812 takes shape in Kazino, a performance space that is more supper club than theatrical venue. Eschewing the idea of theatre-in-the-round for "theatre everywhere," the actors use every available part of the house. Here, cast member Brittain Ashford gives a tour of the unusual space and performs "Sonya Alone" along with musical director Or Matias on piano. The original cast recording of Natasha, Pierre & The Great Comet of 1812 is now available on Sh-K-Boom & Ghostlight Records. Performances run through Jan. 19, 2014.
