The Road Ends in Portland for Hairspray Tour June 25

By Kenneth Jones
23 Jun 2006

The Equity national tour of the Tony Award-winning hit, Hairspray, ends its long run June 25 in Portland, Oregon, after 1,134 performances.

It's technically not the end of the road for the show, however. A non-Equity tour launches in 2006-07, and the Broadway production is still going strong at the Neil Simon Theatre. A film version of the musical comedy (itself inspired by a non-musical film) is in production.

The touring production's final-week cast includes Keala Settle (as Tracy Turnblad), J. P. Dougherty (Edna Turnblad), Shannon Antalan (Inez), Jane Blass (Female Authority Figure), Charlotte Crossley (Motormouth Maybelle), Susan Henley (Velma Von Tussle), Melissa Larsen (Penny Pingleton), Tara Macri (Amber Von Tussle), Paul McQuillan (Corny Collins), Alan Mingo, Jr. (Seaweed J. Stubbs), John Salvatore (Male Authority Figure), Aaron Tveit (Link Larkin), Jim J. Bullock (Wilbur Turnblad), Cameron Adams (Lou Ann), Dale Calandra (u/s Edna, Wilbur, Male Authority Figure), Ryan Christopher Chotto (Swing), Bryan Crawford (Brad), Steven Cutts (Gilbert), Christine M. Danelson (u/s Tracy), Amanda DeFreitas (Dynamite), Jennie Ford (Brenda), Kenneth-Michael Glass (Thad), Amy Hillner (Shelley), Lisa Kassay (assistant dance captain, swing), Diedre Lang (Lorraine), Hayley Podschun (Tammy), Jacqui Polk (swing, u/s Female Authority Figure), Maurica Roland (Swing), Sabrina Sloan (Dynamite), Darren Voros (Sketch), Jesse Weafer (IQ), Renata Renee Wilson (Dynamite), Ryan Wilson (Dance Captain, Swing), Jeremy Woodard (Fender) and Dashaun Young (Duane).
