Director Moises Kaufman's new staging of Macbeth, starring Liev Schreiber and Jennifer Ehle as the ambitious Scots, will strut and fret its hour upon the Delacorte Theater's stage June 28, when the Central Park offering officially opens.

The production began performances on June 14.

Schreiber plays the ambitious Scot warrior bedeviled by an even-more-ambitious wife (Jennifer Ehle's Lady Macbeth), a coven of future-predicting witches and an over-active conscience. It is Schreiber's third trip to the Delacorte Theater. He won an Obie Award for his conniving Iachimo in 1998's Cymbeline and played the title role in 2003's Henry V. As for indoor Shakespeare, he played the conflicted prince in Hamlet and Iago in Othello, both at the Public Theater.

Joining Schreiber and Ehle are Joan MacIntosh, Ching Valdes-Aran, and Lynn Cohen as the Weird Sisters; Delacorte stalwart Herb Foster as Duncan; Jacob Fishel as Malcolm; Pedro Pascal as Bloody Sergant/Murderer 2; Mark L. Montgomery as Lennox; Philip Goodwin as Ross; Teagle F. Bouegere as Banquo; Andrew McGinn as Angus/Murderer 1; Sterling K. Brown as Macduff; Sanjit De Silva as Donalbain; Graeme Malcolm as Seyton; Florencia Lozano as Lady Macduff; Tolan Aman as Boy; and Seth Duerr, Amefika El-Amin, Stephanie Fieger, Hollie Hunt, Michael Markham, Lucas Near-Verbrugghe, and Clancy O'Connor in the ensemble.

Performances continue to July 9.

Kaufman directed the Broadway production of I Am My Own Wife, as well as the Off-Broadway shows Gross Indecency and The Laramie Project for his own Tectonic Theater Project company.

As previously announced, the second Central Park offering in 2006 will be Mother Courage with Meryl Streep. Dates are Aug. 8-Sept. 3. George C. Wolfe directs.
