Bernadette Peters Schedules July TV Appearances

By Andrew Gans
06 Jul 2006

Two-time Tony Award winner Bernadette Peters, who recently performed to a sold-out crowd at Avery Fisher Hall, has scheduled two television appearances to promote her annual charity fundraiser "Broadway Barks."

According to Peters' official website, the singing actress will chat with co-hosts Regis Philbin and Kelly Ripa on "Live with Regis & Kelly" July 7 and will make an appearance on CBS' "Early Show" July 8.

"Live with Regis & Kelly" airs in the metropolitan area on WABC-TV Channel 7 from 9-10 AM ET; CBS' "Early Show" airs on Channel 2 from 7-9 AM ET. Check local listings.

Broadway Barks 8!, the fundraiser created by Peters and friend Mary Tyler Moore is set for Saturday, July 8 in Shubert Alley. The afternoon event begins at 3:30 PM; the celebrity presentation of pets from New York City animal shelters is scheduled to start at 5:30 PM.

Bernadette Peters was last on Broadway in the acclaimed revival of Gypsy, for which she received a 2003 Tony Award nomination for her performance as Momma Rose in the Sam Mendes-directed production. She won her two Tonys for her performances in Andrew Lloyd Webber's Song & Dance and Irving Berlin's Annie Get Your Gun, and she has also starred on Broadway in Mack & Mabel, On the Town, Sunday in the Park with George, The Goodbye Girl and the original production of Stephen Sondheim's Into the Woods. Peters' newest recording, "Sondheim, Etc., Etc.—Bernadette Peters Live at Carnegie Hall (The Rest of It)," hit stores on the Angel Records label last summer.
