Fleming has replaced Telly Leung as Boq in the hit Stephen Schwartz musical at the Ford Center for the Performing Arts' Oriental Theatre. Leung, who has been seen on Broadway in the revivals of Flower Drum Song and Pacific Overtures, departed the production after a year-run stint as the lovesick Munchkin. (Leung will be seen later this summer as Tobias in the Four Seasons Theatre's presentation of Sweeney Todd).
Fleming, who played Sketch in Broadway's Hairspray, joins a Wicked company that features Kristy Cates (Elphaba), Stacie Morgain Lewis (Glinda), Rondi Reed (Madame Morrible), Gene Weygandt (The Wizard), Heidi Kettenring (Nessarose), Timothy Britten Parker (Doctor Dillamond) and Kristoffer Cusick (Fiyero).
Adam Fleming has been seen on Broadway in Hairspray and Off-Broadway in Bare: A Pop Opera. He played Eddie in the national tour of Mamma Mia! and was seen in the films "Marci X" and "dare."
The open-ended Chicago production of Wicked began performances at the Ford Center for the Performing Arts' Oriental Theatre June 24, 2005, and officially opened July 13. The original Chicago company included Ana Gasteyer and Kate Reinders as, respectively, the green-faced and curly-locked witches.
Chicago's Ford Center for the Performing Arts/Oriental Theatre is located at 24 West Randolph Street. Tickets for Wicked are available at all Broadway in Chicago box offices (22 W. Monroe Street, 24 W. Randolph Street and 151 West Randolph Street) or by calling (312) 902-1400.
