Marc Kudisch has joined the cast of the upcoming Hartford Stage run of Tennessee Williams' Summer and Smoke. He will play opposite Amanda Plummer and then headline the co-production's stint at New Jersey's Paper Mill Playhouse.

Staged by artistic director Michael Wilson, the Williams work runs at the Connecticut stage Aug. 31-Oct. 1. The show officially opens Sept. 8. (The Paper Mill run of Summer and Smoke plays Jan. 10-Feb. 11, 2007. Plummer will not appear at the latter venue.)

Joining Kudisch and Plummer in the ensemble will be Terry Beaver, Jennifer Harmon, Nafe Katter, Stephanie Beatriz, Mateo Gomez, Marta Reiman, Johanna Morrison, Bill Kux, Curtis Billings, Elizabeth Capinera and John Ort. Casting for the NJ run is yet to be announced.

Kudisch, last seen in Chitty Chitty Bang Bang on Broadway, was nominated for a Tony Award for his turn in Thoroughly Modern Millie. The actor has also appeared in Bells Are Ringing, The Wild Party, High Society, The Scarlet Pimpernel, Beauty and the Beast and Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat.

Plummer — who appeared in Hartford Stage's 8 by Tenn — is known for her off-kilter film portrayals in "Pulp Fiction," "So I Married an Axe Murderer" and "The Fisher King." The actress has been nominated for a Tony in the Broadway productions of A Taste of Honey, Pygmalion and Agnes of God — winning for the latter.

The design team will feature Tony Straiges (set), David Woolard (costumes), Rui Rita (lighting) and John Gromada (sound). Max Williams serves as assistant director and Elizabeth Maloney as production stage manager.

Tickets to shows at Hartford Stage, 50 Church Street in downtown Hartford, CT will be available by calling (860) 527-5151 . For more information, visit www.hartfordstage.org.
