Jordan Bridges joins the Broadway cast of The Lieutenant of Inishmore Aug. 19, replacing Jeff Binder as James, in the bloody comedy that pokes terrorism in the eye.

Two other new Irish-accented lads — American actors, in fact — will join The Lieutenant of Inishmore on Aug. 22.

David Wilmot's final performance as Padraic, the title role of the Martin McDonagh comedy, is Aug. 20. Christopher Denham (Red Light Winter) takes over Aug. 22.

Jerzy Gwiazdowski (also starting Aug. 22) replaces Domhnall Gleeson as addled Davey, who discovers mad Padraic's cat has been murdered.

Both Gleeson and Wilmot, as well as actress Alison Pill, were Tony Award nominated for their work in Lieutenant.

Jeff Binder will appear in the New York premiere of Tina Howe's Birth and After Birth, opening the Atlantic Theater Company season. In Lieutenant of Inishmore, the shirtless, shoeless James hangs upside down and is tortured and taunted by the title character.

The producers point out that both David Wilmot and replacement Christopher Denham tied for the 2006 Lucille Lortel Award for Outstanding Lead Actor: Wilmot for The Lieutenant of Inishmore and Denham for Red Light Winter, both Off-Broadway.

Academy Award winner Martin McDonagh's black and bloody comedy about a cat-loving Irish terrorist, directed by Wilson Milam, received five 2006 Tony Award nominations, including Best Play, the Lucille Lortel Award for Outstanding Play and a Village Voice Obie Award.

Jordan Bridges is the son of actor Beau Bridges. They acted together in Geffen Playhouse's Looking For Normal.

Christopher Denham recently appeared in Adam Rapp's Pulitzer Prize-nominated Red Light Winter, for which he won a Lucille Lortel Award and a Drama League nomination. On Broadway, he appeared in the revival of Master Harold...and the boys, opposite Danny Glover.

Jerzy Gwiazdowski is making his Broadway debut. His recent New York theatre credits include Clocks and Whistles (U.S. premiere, Origin Theatre Co.); Ping Pong Diplomacy (Reverie Productions); Balm in Gilead (Barefoot Theatre Co.); Language of Angels, We Three (Lincoln Center Institute); [sic] (78th Street Theatre Lab).

The critically acclaimed play began previews at the Lyceum Theatre on April 19 and the official opening was May 3. Prior to Broadway, The Lieutenant of Inishmore played a sold-out limited run at the Atlantic Theater Company from Feb. 8–April 9.

The play is the winner of London's Olivier Award and an Evening Standard nomination.

The cast also features David Wilson Barnes as Brendan, Andrew Connolly as Christy, Dashiell Eaves as Joey, Peter Gerety as Donny and Alison Pill as Mairead.

Lieutenant is presented by Randall L. Wreghitt, Dede Harris, Atlantic Theater Company (Neil Pepe, Artistic Director, Andrew D. Hamingson, Managing Director), David Lehrer, Harriet Newman Leve & Ron Nicynski, the Zavelson Meyrelles Greiner Group, Mort Swinsky & Redfern Goldman Productions and Ruth Hendel.

Performances play Tuesday at 7 PM, Wednesday through Saturday at 8 PM, with matinees Wednesday and Saturday at 2 PM, and Sunday at 3 PM. Tickets are on sale by phone at (212) 239-6200 and online through Telecharge.com, or in person at the Lyceum Theatre box office.
