Wilson will fill the Keds of Celia Keenan-Bolger, who received a Tony Award nomination for her performance in Spelling Bee. Keenan-Bolger plays her final performance at Circle in the Square on Sept. 17 and jumps into rehearsals for the new Broadway production of Les Misérables (she'll play Eponine).
Jessica-Snow Wilson has appeared on Broadway in Good Vibrations, Little Shop of Horrors, A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum and Les Misérables as well as the City Center Encores! production of Hair. Off-Broadway, the actress was seen in Bingo, Zombie Prom, I Sing and Me and Juliet. She was Minnie in the recent Paper Mill Playhouse production of Hello, Dolly!
"In The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee, six young people in the throes of puberty, overseen by grown-ups who barely managed to escape childhood themselves, learn that winning isn't everything and that losing doesn't necessarily make you a loser in this funny, tender and sardonic musical," according to the producers.
Additionally, a national touring production kicks off at Baltimore's Hippodrome Theatre at the France-Merrick Performing Arts Center beginning Sept. 19.
Spelling Bee was conceived by Rebecca Feldman, features music and lyrics by Tony Award-winner William Finn (Falsettos, Elegies) and a Tony Award-winning book by Rachel Sheinkin, with additional material by Jay Reiss.
When she joins The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee, Jessica-Snow Wilson will be featured with Derrick Baskin as Mitch Mahoney, Deborah S. Craig as Marcy Park, Barrett Foa as Leaf Coneybear, Josh Gad as William Barfee, Lisa Howard as Rona Lisa Peretti, Jose Llana as Chip Tolentino, Sarah Saltzberg as Logainne Schwartzandgrubenierre and Greg Stuhr as Douglas Panch.
