Christine Ebersole Revisits the Sixties in Sept. 18 Actors' Fund Benefit Concert

| photo by Aubrey Reuben | "It's gonna be Christine like you've never heard her before! I'd say, basically, we're going to Woodstock," Christine Ebersole recently told Playbill.com about her Sept. 18 Actors' Fund of America benefit concert.
The Tony Award-winning actress, who will return to Broadway later this fall in the new musical Grey Gardens, will perform her solo evening at New World Stages. Show time is 7:30 PM.
Backed by a nine-piece band under the musical direction of Bette Sussman, Ebersole will offer tunes by Laura Nyro, Joni Mitchell, The Eagles, Dixie Chicks, Tank, Michael McDonald and Bob Dylan, among others. She'll also perform her Grey Gardens solo "Will You?" And, the actress says, "I'm singing one of [Grey Gardens co-star] Bob Stillman's songs called 'Can't Go Back There,' a song that he wrote and recorded. It's a gorgeous song. I'm singing that song, and I also have asked him to sing with me on a Linda Ronstadt song called 'Prisoner in Disguise.'"
Christine Ebersole received a 2003 Tony nomination for her performance in Lincoln Center’s production of Dinner at Eight. She also received a Tony Award for Best Performance by a Leading Actress in a Musical for her work as Dorothy Brock in the hit revival of 42nd Street. Ebersole’s other Broadway credits include The Best Man, Getting Away with Murder, Harrigan 'n Hart, Camelot, Oklahoma!, On the Twentieth Century, I Love My Wife, Angel Street and the City Center Encores! productions of A Connecticut Yankee, Ziegfeld Follies of 1936, Lady in the Dark and Allegro. She was also seen Off-Broadway in Talking Heads and was most recently seen in Grey Gardens, which brought the actress Drama Desk and Outer Critics Circle awards for her performance. That musical is set to begin previews at the Walter Kerr Theatre Oct. 3.
The Actors' Fund, which was founded in 1882, is a non-profit organization that provides for the social welfare of all entertainment professionals. Some of the many programs The Actors' Fund provides include a nursing home and assisted living care facility; senior and disabled programs; mental health services; chemical dependency services; entertainment industry assistance programs; the Phyllis Newman Women's Health Initiative; the AIDS Initiative; and supportive housing on both coasts.
