Tony Award winners Cherry Jones and Adriane Lenox reprise their lauded turns in John Patrick Shanley's Doubt Sept. 22 to kick off the national tour and the new Mark Taper Forum season in Los Angeles.
Original director Doug Hughes again stages the work which actually performs in Center Theatre Group's Ahmanson Theatre (accommodating the tour's proscenium based staging). The drama opens Sept. 27 for a run through Oct. 29.
"Set against the backdrop of a Bronx Catholic school in 1964, Doubt is the story of a strong-minded woman faced with a difficult decision," according to show materials. "Should she voice concerns about one of her male colleagues…even if she's not entirely certain of the truth?"
Chris McGarry (Defiance, Salome) also appears in the cast as Father Flynn with Lisa Joyce (Red Light Winter) as Sister James.
The design team features John Lee Beatty (scenic), Catherine Zuber (costumes),
Pat Collins (lighting) and original music by David Van Tieghem (sound).
