Meat Loaf to Perform "Bat Out of Hell on Broadway" Concert at Palace Nov. 2

By Ernio Hernandez
04 Oct 2006

Singer Meat Loaf will take to the stage of the Great White Way Nov. 2 in a one-night only concert "Bat Out of Hell on Broadway" at the Palace Theatre.

Promoting his forthcoming trilogy-ending release "Bat Out of Hell III - The Monster is Loose," the three-act show will feature songs from the original 1977 album "Bat Out of Hell" (including "Two Out of Three Ain't Bad"), from the Grammy Award-winning "Bat Out of Hell 2 - Back into Hell" (such as "I'd Do Anything For Love (But I Won't Do That)") and tracks from the latest "premiering live for the first time ever in New York," according to a release.

The tour launches from London's Royal Albert Hall (Oct. 16) and then, following his New York date, heads to Toronto's Elgin Theatre (Nov. 4), Atlantic City's Estes Theatre (Nov. 10) and Connecticut's Mohegan Sun (Nov. 12).

"It's a special treat to get the chance to see this huge show in a theater of only 1,700 seats," said event promoter James Nederlander — whose family owns the venue.

"Bat Out of Hell III - The Monster is Loose" (on Virgin Records America) will be released on Halloween and features songs by Broadway's Dance of the Vampires composer Jim Steinman as well as Desmond Child, Motley Crue's Nikki Sixx and John 5. It was produced by Child with additional vocal arrangements by Todd Rundgren. Featured performances include John 5, Queen's Brian May, Steve Vai and newcomer Marion Raven.

The last show to play the Palace was Elton John's vampire musical Lestat. Next up, the Broadway house gets a tad sunnier with the movie-turned-musical Legally Blonde.

Pre-sale tickets are available for Meat Loaf fan club members (through meatloaf.net) and general public sale begins Oct. 7 at 9 AM through Ticketmaster or the Palace box office at 1564 Broadway.
