"Wings" Star Schramm to Star in Mufti Take Me Along

By Andrew Gans
06 Oct 2006

David Schramm, who played Roy Biggins in the television sitcom "Wings," will star in the upcoming "Musicals in Mufti" presentation of Take Me Along.

Directed by Michael Montel, Take Me Along will play the York Oct. 13-15. In addition to Schramm, who will star a Sid Davis, the company will also feature Susan Bigelow as Lily Miller and Nick Wyman as Nat Miller with Melissa Bohon, Ken Cavett, Matthew Crowle, Ryan Driscoll, Jay Aubrey Jones, Jacob Levy, Lorinda Lisitza, Robyne Parrish, Andrew Rasmussen and Deborah Jean Templin.

Based on the play Ah, Wilderness!, Take Me Along features a book by Joseph Stein and Robert Russell and a score by Bob Merrill. After opening Oct. 22, 1959, the musical played 448 performances at the Shubert Theatre.

Set in 1906 Connecticut, Take Me Along, according to press notes, concerns "Nat Miller, publisher of the Centerville Globe newspaper, [who] wins a fire engine for his idyllic town. His pride is tarnished however, when one of his advertisers condemns him because of the suggestive poetry that his son Robert has been reading to the advertiser's daughter. Amidst all this is the story of the ne'er-do-well brother-in-law Sid Davis trying to win the heart of a woman who demands only that he change his drunken ways and become sober once and for all."

David Schramm's Broadway credits include London Assurance, Tartuffe, The Misanthrope, Goodbye Fidel, Bedroom Farce, The Three Sisters, The Time of Your Life, Edward II, The Robber Bridegroom, Next Time I'll Sing to You, Scapin, Measure for Measure and The Beggar's Opera.

The York Theatre Company is located in Saint Peter’s Theatre on 54th Street, just east of Lexington Avenue. For tickets call (212) 935-5820 or visit www.yorktheatre.org.
