Callaway, Clark, McElroy and Umphress to Be Part of Nov. 20 Blumenkrantz Concert

By Andrew Gans
16 Oct 2006

Several Broadway favorites will be part of the upcoming concert at Birdland, The Jeff Blumenkrantz Songbook.

Composer Blumenkrantz told Playbill.com that he will be joined Nov. 20 by Tony Award winner Victoria Clark as well as Liz Callaway, Michael McElroy and Alysha Umphress. The performers will be accompanied by Blumenkrantz on piano, Peter Donovan on bass and Sean McDaniel on drums. Show time is 7 PM.

Jeff Blumenkrantz received a 2003 Tony Award nomination for the songs he contributed to Urban Cowboy, The Musical. He contributed a song to Audra McDonald's "Seven Deadly Sins" concert at Carnegie Hall as well as a tune to the Transport Group's production of The Audience. His songs have been performed by McDonald, Megan Mullally and Judy Kuhn. As an actor, Blumenkrantz appeared in the Broadway productions of Into the Woods, 3 Penny Opera, Damn Yankees, How to Succeed in Business without Really Trying and A Class Act.

Blumenkrantz’s website, located at www.jeffblumenkrantz.com, currently offers vocals by several theatre stars, including Judy Blazer (“It’ll Work for You”), Victoria Clark (“I Won’t Mind”) and Sally Wilfert (“I’m Free").

Birdland is located in Manhattan at 315 West 44th Street. There is a $25 cover charge and a $10 food-drink minimum. Call (212) 581-3080 for reservations or visit www.instantseats.com.
