Broadway star Hugh Panaro — who has headlined in Lestat and The Phantom of the Opera — appears as Bobby in the new staging of Company at Seattle's 5th Avenue Theatre, starting Oct. 17.

The 5th Avenue artistic director David Armstrong directs the show which opens Oct. 19 for a run through Nov. 5.

The Stephen Sondheim-George Furth musical is about marriage, friendship and the pitfalls and joys of committed relationships through the eyes of their perpetual bachelor friend (Panaro).

The 5th Avenue production will also feature Anne Allgood (Broadway's The Sound of Music) as Jenny, Laurence Ballard as Larry, Shelly Burch (Claudia of Broadway's Nine in 1982) as Joanne, David Drummond as David, Lisa Estridge as Marta, Kendra Kassebaum (Wicked tour) as Amy, Anna Lauris as Kathy, Bobbi Kotula as Sarah, Timothy Piggee as Peter, David Quicksall as David, Susannah Mars as Susan, Daniel C. Levine (Broadway's The Rocky Horror Show, Chicago, Jesus Christ Superstar) as Paul and Billie Wildrick as April.

Musical direction is by Ian Eisendrath. Designers include James Wolk (set), Lynda Salsbury (costumes), Tom Sturge (lighting) and Andrew Horka (sound). Anne Kearson is the production stage manager.

A Broadway revival of Company directed by John Doyle — in the same style of his Sweeney Todd wherein the cast play their own instruments — will begin on Broadway Oct. 30 with Raϊl Esparza and Barbara Walsh in the cast.

The landmark 1970 Company features such songs as "Side By Side By Side," "Ladies Who Lunch," "Being Alive" and "Another Hundred People." It won six 1971 Tony Awards, including Best Musical.

The show was last seen on Broadway for a limited Roundabout Theatre Company engagement in 1995. It is considered one of the American musical theatre's major concept show, expanding the musical theatre form with its fractured storytelling and nervous rhythms.

Tickets to Company at The 5th Avenue Theatre, 1308 5th Avenue in downtown Seattle, WA, are available by calling (206) 625-1900 or visit the box office. For more information, visit www.5thavenuetheatre.org.
