The hit London production Frost/Nixon, which will begin performances at London's Gielgud Theatre Nov. 9 following an acclaimed run this past summer at the Donmar Warehouse, will arrive on Broadway in April 2007.

A casting notice says that Peter Morgan's post-Watergate play will begin previews at a Broadway theatre to be announced on or about April 8, 2007, with an official opening April 22. New York rehearsals will commence March 5.

Frank Langella and Michael Sheen, who created the roles of, respectively, former President Richard Nixon and talk-show host David Frost, will re-create their work for Broadway audiences, according to the casting notice. Michael Grandage, who helmed the London production, will direct the Broadway version as well.

Producers are Matthew Byam Shaw, Arielle Tepper Madover, Robert Fox, ACT Productions and the Donmar Warehouse.

In related news, Variety had reported Sept. 25 that Ron Howard will direct a film version of the play — which depicts the famed series of interviews between Frost and Nixon — but has agreed to shoot the project "following the show's West End and Broadway transfers."

Frank Langella is best known for his Broadway role as Dracula (1979). He recently appeared in George Clooney's "Good Night and Good Luck." He made his Broadway debut in the 1960s and won his first Tony Award for Edward Albee's Seascape (1975). His roles onstage have included Strindberg (The Father) to Noel Coward (Present Laughter). He has also been a regular at The New York Shakespeare Festival. Other Broadway credits include Amadeus and Turgenev's Fortune's Fool (2002, adapted by English writer Mike Poulton) in which he played opposite Alan Bates and for which he won a second Tony.

Michael Sheen received an Olivier Award nomination for Best Actor in the title role of Caligula. His other stage credits include The U.N. Inspector at the National, and Amadeus in Peter Hall’s 1999 revival of Peter Shaffer's Tony-winning play.
