07 Nov 2006

Sally Mayes, who received a Tony nomination for her work in She Loves Me, will return to the Metropolitan Room Nov. 16-18 with her new cabaret act Unwritten.

The 8 PM performances will feature jazz, country and pop tunes, and Mayes will be backed by musical director Patrick Brady on piano and Bob Renino on bass. In a statement, the singing actress said, "The great thing about being a storyteller is that there is always another chapter."

On Broadway Sally Mayes has been seen in Urban Cowboy, Welcome to the Club (Theatre World Award, Outer Critics Circle nomination) and She Loves Me (Tony, Drama Desk and Outer Critics Circle nominations). Her Off-Broadway credits include Closer Than Ever (Outer Critics nomination), Das Barbecü, Pete 'n' Keely (Drama Desk nomination) and Dirty Blonde (first national tour). Mayes' screen credits feature roles in "City Hall," "Bye Bye Birdie," "Law & Order," "Sex and the City." Her solo recordings include "Valentine," "The Dorothy Fields Songbook," "Our Private World: The Comden and Green Songbook," "The Story Hour" and "Boys and Girls Like You and Me."

The Metropolitan Room is located in Manhattan at 34 W. 22nd Street. There is a $25 cover charge and a two-drink minimum; call (212) 206-0440 for reservations.
