By Zachary Pincus-Roth
05 Dec 2006

The late Broadway lyricist Carolyn Leigh will get a tribute from the New York Public Library for the Performing Arts on Dec. 11 at 6 PM at the library's Bruno Walter Auditorium.

The performers will include Margery Beddow, George Costacos, Diane Findlay, Michelle Nicklas, Jane White, Julie Wilson, Sara Zahn and Steve Ross. Ross will music direct.

Leigh (1922-1983) was the lyricist for Peter Pan, Little Me, Wildcat and How Now Dow Jones. She also contributed to the film scores of "The Cardinal" and "Father Goose."

Her songs include "The Best is Yet to Come," "Young at Heart," “How Little We Know,” “Witchcraft,” “I’m Flying,” “You Fascinate Me So,” “Hey, Look Me Over,” “It Amazes Me,” “Real Live Girl,” “I’ve Got Your Number,” “Pass Me By" and "Step to the Rear."

The event is part of the 75th Anniversary celebration of the library's Billy Rose Theatre Collection. The Carolyn Leigh Papers are in the collection.

Tickets are free and will be distributed starting at 4 PM on the day of the event, at the library's entrance at 111 Amsterdam Avenue.
