Brian Kulick, David Ives and the creators of Evil Dead: The Musical are among the participants in events at the 92nd Street Y's Makor series in January 2007.

On Jan. 14, Kulick and Ives will talk about the French playwright Yasmina Reza’s A Spanish Play, which opens in January at Classic Stage Company. Kulick is artistic director of the company and Ives wrote the translation. A release from Makor says that other participants in the discussion may include the play’s director, John Turturro, and its cast members, including Zoe Caldwell, Katherine Borowitz, Linda Emond, Denis O’Hare and Larry Pine.

Creators of Off-Broadway's Evil Dead: The Musical will discuss their process for adapting Sam Raimi's classic horror film to the stage on Jan. 28. A double-feature of Raimi's films Evil Dead II and Army of Darkness will screen on Jan 27.

A reading of the New York Musical Theatre Festival show Soul Searching will take place on Jan. 7 and 8. The musical, according to press notes, "follows a single Jewish woman on her quest for romantic and spiritual fulfillment."

Acoustic Theater, featuring play readings paired with tunes from emerging singer/songwriters, will take place Jan. 13, Feb. 17, Mar. 17 and Apr. 14. Writers slated to participate include Clay McLeod Chapman, Zayh Dorn, Quincy Long and Tony Award winner Mark O’Donnell (co-writer of the book for Hairspray).

On Jan. 21 Makor will stage a family concert version of Tales of Custard the Dragon, a musical adaptation of stories by Ogden Nash. Music is by Brad Ross, lyrics are by Danny Whitman and the book adaptation is by Mary Hall Surface.

Love and Israel, on Jan. 23, is a series of monologues on the country written and performed by Sissy Block and Ilana Lipski.

Makor is the umbrella for events at the 92nd Street Y's Steinhardt Building at 35 West 67th Street. For more information visit www.92Y.org.
