I Love You, You're Perfect, Now Change to Launch National Tour in Beijing

By Ernio Hernandez
17 Jan 2007

Following a four-week run at China's Shanghai Dramatic Arts Centre, I Love You, You're Perfect, Now Change will embark on a national tour of China in 2007.

The Chinese/American co-production by Shanghai Dramatic Arts Centre, People's Art Theatre and Broadway Asia Entertainment ended its Shanghai run Dec. 31, 2006. The production marks "the first Western musical ever to be performed there in Mandarin Chinese," a release boasts. Bishoff worked with translator Nick Rongjun Yu to "incorporate local Chinese attitudes and references, allowing the material to resonate with Shanghai audiences." The cast of four included popular singing star Lin Yilun.

Slated to kick off in Beijing, the list of tour dates and other cities will be announced shortly.

James Hammerstein Productions, Bernie Kukoff and Jonathan Pollard produce the Off-Broadway run directed by Joel Bishoff. The show is now in its 11th year in New York.

I Love You, You're Perfect, Now Change features music by Jimmy Roberts with a book and lyrics by Joe DiPietro. The musical comedy that delves into the world of dating, love and marriage is also the longest-running musical revue in New York history, having broken the record set by Smokey Joe's Cafe.

DiPietro was also the book writer for the Broadway musical All Shook Up, which featured the music of Elvis Presley.

I Love You, You're Perfect has enjoyed success throughout the world, having opened in over 400 different cities including Los Angeles, Boston, San Francisco, Toronto, Chicago, London, Tel Aviv, Mexico City, Barcelona, Amsterdam, Budapest, Sydney, Prague, Seoul, Buenos Aires, Milan, Berlin, Dublin, Hong Kong, Rio de Janeiro and Johannesburg.

I Love You, You're Perfect, Now Change can be found on the web at www.loveperfectchange.com.
