Connie Fisher — who landed the leading role in the West End revival of The Sound of Music via the television reality program "How Do You Solve a Problem Like Maria?" — has extended her stay in that Rodgers and Hammerstein musical.

According to the Really Useful website, Fisher will play Maria von Trapp through February 2008.

The West End revival of The Sound of Music began previews at the London Palladium Nov. 4, 2006. Directed by Jeremy Sams, the musical officially opened Nov. 14.

The Sound of Music originally premiered on Broadway in 1959, winning six Tony Awards, including Best Musical. The 1965 Hollywood film, which starred Julie Andrews and Christopher Plummer, won five Oscars, including Best Picture.
