Jennifer Hudson who portrays Effie in the Golden Globe-winning movie musical "Dreamgirls" will sing during the upcoming Academy Awards ceremony.
Hudson told Oprah Winfrey that she will perform "Love You I Do" one of the three new, Oscar-nominated songs from "Dreamgirls" during the Feb. 25 Oscar broadcast on ABC-TV. During the Jan. 30 broadcast of "The Oprah Winfrey Show," Hudson also confirmed that she will record a solo CD with legendary producer Clive Davis; the recent SAG Award winner will head into the recording studio in March.
It's been a whirlwind year for Hudson, who has picked up most every award imaginable for her performance in the Bill Condon-directed film. Feathers in her cap include the Golden Globe Award and the Screen Actors Guild Award. She will vie for the Oscar for Best Featured Actress in a Film in a field that also includes Adriana Barraza for "Babel," Cate Blanchett for "Notes on a Scandal," Abigail Breslin for "Little Miss Sunshine" and Rinko Kikuchi for "Babel."
Ellen DeGeneres will host the annual Academy Awards, which will be broadcast live from Hollywood's Kodak Theatre beginning at 5 PM PST. The telecast will begin with a half-hour red carpet segment titled "The Road to the Oscars."
